In plain terms. The Situs mail checker ran out of time while Clara was writing a follow-up to a caller after staff answered her note, and the retry skipped it as already handled, so that follow-up may never have gone out. Should we move Clara's follow-up work off the mail checker onto the background queue so one slow reply can't be cut off, or just give the mail checker more time and memory?
The full question, as raised
propflow-gmail-company-inbox-poller-prod timed out (60s, 256/256MB) at 2026-10-29T02:34Z inside deliverInboundEmail: a staff reply to team notice tn_230b03d0 ran StaffInputReader (7.5s) then a full Clara agent turn (~42s LLM) inline. The poller's per-message reserve is 8s (PER_MESSAGE_RESERVE_MS) under a 45s soft budget, so one inline Clara turn blows the whole tick. EventBridge retry re-ran the same request and skipped it as team_notice:duplicate, so the composed follow-up was not retried; no outbound row after 02:32:45 on conv_voice_0503c5c0. Every message is also pinned at 255-256MB. Class fix: enqueue the staff-answer relay turn (durable workflow/queue) instead of running it inside the poller; alternative bandage: raise memory/timeout.
Why, and what was tried
The session raising this recommends: Move follow-ups to the background queue A bigger time limit still loses the follow-up whenever Clara is slow; only taking the turn off the checker fixes the whole class. Tried first, unsuccessfully: Read the timed-out run's logs, the poller's 45s/8s budget code, the retry (skipped as duplicate), and the conversation rows in propflow-prod; only one timeout in 24h but it dropped a customer-facing follow-up.
