In plain terms. Clara's phone voice has used all of this month's ElevenLabs allowance and it does not refill until Dec 3, so every call to Clara right now goes to the backup (on-call list or a message). Should we turn on pay-as-you-go overage on the ElevenLabs account, or move to a bigger plan?
The full question, as raised
ElevenLabs subscription (read 2026-11-03): tier=pro, status=active, character_count 3,024,240 of character_limit 3,024,240, next reset 2026-12-03T14:37Z, can_extend_character_limit=false, allowed_to_extend_character_limit=true. The front door (clara-front-door.ts, clara_out_of_credits) is routing every inbound Clara call to the fallback; ALR-9f5c9f94 fired for CAed177262d84e06dbf4b74da519b59c98. Restoring Clara needs a billing change on the ElevenLabs account (a purchase) — enable usage-based overage, or upgrade tier.
Why, and what was tried
The session raising this recommends: Turn on overage billing The account already allows it, it restores Clara within minutes of being switched on, and it only charges for what is used past the allowance. Tried first, unsuccessfully: Read the live ElevenLabs subscription API (pro, 100% used, reset Dec 3, overage allowed but off); confirmed the front door is falling back as designed (PRs 24820/24844/24896 merged today); found no open decision about this. A purchase is a founder's call, so I did not change billing.
