In plain terms. Two calls on the Vercel build-cost work, and neither is the mini's to make: should the 30-minute gap between production builds become permanent, and should the cheaper-build-machine experiment be dropped? Gera asked for both last night; Fede ruled against both that same morning because he does not want production shipping slowed down. Nothing has been changed and the cost target can be met without either, so which way do Gera and Fede want it?

1Fede ruled on 2026-10-11 14:42Z (propflow-docs 86778c9c6, relayed in-session) that batching release promotes is OFF and not to be proposed, to protect production deploy speed. Gera's ask about 10 hours later was for exactly a 30-minute release promote window, and it is already live in production via the PROMOTE_WINDOW_MINUTES variable Smith set at 02:25Z. Do I merge the PR that makes 30 the repo default, or does Fede's ruling stand?
In plain terms. Should the mini make the 30-minute gap between production builds permanent, put it back to 5 minutes, or leave it running as-is until Gera and Fede agree? Gera asked for 30 minutes last night; Fede said that same morning he does not want production shipping slowed down. The 30-minute gap is already running, and the cost target can be met without it, so nothing breaks while this waits.
Why the raiser recommends it
The session raising this recommends: Leave it as-is, hold the PR Four facts Gera may not have had when he asked, the last one measured after the first raise. (1) The repo default moved from 30 to 5 on 2026-10-07 (#17354) — Gera set 30 himself on 09-24, so 'we only deploy once every 30 mins' stopped being true five days ago, and that is very likely why the bill jumped. (2) Gera authored the commit that same morning relaying Fede: 'Batching release promotes is OFF and not to be proposed', because 'We don't want to slow down production shipping'. (3) The 30 minutes is ALREADY in force in production — Smith set the override variable at 02:25Z — proven in the logs, not inferred: run 38196025454 resolves window=30m and then logs ACTION=defer eight times from 02:30:43Z to 02:52:52Z, a release push waiting out the full window inside one CI run. So nothing waits on this answer. (4) NEW, and it points at Fede: the under-$15/day target is reachable WITHOUT touching the window at all. After yesterday's fixes the remaining spend is about $29.60/day, of which production promotes are about $10.95/day; the window buys about $5.74/day at 17 minutes of added latency per deploy, while the preview fix alone was about $18.65/day at ZERO latency cost — three times the lever. Fede's own note in that commit said the target 'looks reachable without touching production cadence at all, which makes his constraint free', and that is now measured. Also corrected: cancelled builds were never invoiced, so #18772 saved about $0 of invoice; a total saved is $18.65 + $5.74, not $18.65 + $11 + $5.74. Holding costs one round-trip of attention and changes production by zero; merging would have an agent reverse a founder's same-day ruling into the repo default, and here merge IS the production deploy.
2This task's criterion also demands a measured standard-build-machine trial merged with a per-build CPU-minute receipt or an explicit revert. Fede ruled that lever out by name before the task existed, and the trial cannot be run on a preview at all because the setting is project-wide. No honest artifact can satisfy the clause, so the task cannot reach done. Drop the build-machine half from this task's definition of done, or override Fede and run it?
In plain terms. Should the mini drop the cheaper-build-machine experiment from this job's finish line, or does Gera want it run anyway against Fede's ruling? It cannot be tested safely — the setting applies to the whole project, so there is no way to try it on a throwaway build without putting the real site on it, and every machine size costs the same per unit anyway. Nothing has been changed.
Why the raiser recommends it
The session raising this recommends: Drop it — Fede's ruling stands and the saving is not there Three independent reasons the trial cannot happen, all verified at primary source. (1) Fede ruled the lever out BY NAME in the same 2026-10-11 commit: the standard-vs-enhanced machine 'falls to the same constraint on its own merits (fewer vCPU = longer build = slower deploy)'. (2) There is no cheaper tier: every Vercel machine bills the identical $0.0035/CPU-min, confirmed off our own bill with a same-day two-project control, so a smaller machine just takes proportionally longer for the same money — the saving was a 20-50% band worth $1.67-4.16/day against a certain cost of up to +2.8 min on each of 63 daily deploys. (3) The safe test this task specified does not exist: the setting is project-wide, and the one per-deployment override only lets a build be opted UP to the biggest machine, so there is no way to try the cheaper one on a throwaway build without putting the real site on it too. Nothing was changed — the project is still on enhanced, verified by reading it back, with zero writes made. 'Or an explicit revert' does not rescue the clause either: a revert means we changed it, measured it and put it back, and a founder forbidding the change before it ran is not that. So no honest artifact can satisfy this half, and only a human can shrink a criterion — a Driver may make done harder, never easier. Fable agreed on both passes and escalated anyway because the question touches money.
Why, and what was tried
Tried first, unsuccessfully: Two receipts, one per question, cited in free text because the receipt checker compares against a single question and this page carries two. (1) WINDOW — receipt f3053070f ruled HOLD: asked twice with the options reversed, held under reversal, confidence high/high. Its words: a later instruction only supersedes if it knows what it supersedes, and Gera's ask rests on a stale premise. (2) BUILD MACHINE — receipt f15ffbf95 returned NEEDS HUMAN: both passes AGREED the criterion must go to a human, and it escalated anyway because the question touches money. Its reasoning: the substance is settled by Fede's ruling plus the evidence page, but only drive --replace may shrink a criterion, and a Driver withdrawing the rows itself would manufacture a dock-says-done / criterion-says-not-done split.

b91774297 You asked for a build at most once every 30 minutes, but Fede said that morning he does not want production shipping slowed down and that batching was off. The 30 minutes is already running in production. Do you want us to make it the project's permanent setting, put it back to every 5 minutes, or leave it running as-is while you two agree? — withdrawn
b91774562 Should the mini make the 30-minute gap between production builds the permanent setting, put it back to 5 minutes, or leave it running as-is until Gera and Fede agree? Gera asked for 30 minutes last night. Fede said that same morning he does not want production shipping slowed down, and the 30-minute gap is already running in production right now, so nothing changes while this waits. — withdrawn
