The done-checklist for this task asks specifically that #5670 be MERGED, and the checker has no way to express 'closed as superseded' — so that box can never be ticked. Fable recommends: Re-point it at #5669 — you run 'drive --replace' with the same goal text, which lets the checklist re-baseline, and I re-capture that item as '#5669 merged' (true and verifiable today) Your own definition of done for this task counts 'closed as superseded with a stated, evidenced reason' as finished, and #5670 meets it — you closed it yourself on Aug 22 citing #5669. #5669 merged Aug 11 and I confirmed its fix is live on main (commit f085a588f5). So re-pointing records the truth rather than lowering the bar. I can't do it myself: the tooling refuses to let an operator change a done-condition, deliberately — only you can, and that's working as intended. Tried first, unsuccessfully: f83c05394 — RESOLVED, held under option-reversal (high/high). Fable found operator_task.py names this exact door: 'Only drive --replace (the human door) may shrink the list.' It independently re-verified #5670 on GitHub (CLOSED by you 2026-08-22, superseded-by-#5669, no-op diff) and judged 'pr:#5669 merged' a true, checkable replacement. Cost if wrong: ~30 seconds of your time; the reverse error leaves a finished task open forever, invisible to every surface that counts DONE.
