Everything I could decide myself is decided. What's left needs
you. Each one has a recommendation from Fable β if you agree, pick it and
press Done. "I'm not sure" is a real answer and becomes work for me.
You don't need to open the session β pressing Done sends your answer back and it picks up.
1The eval thumbs-down self-heal lane is fully built, wired and deployed, but its arming switch (SMITH_EVAL_HEAL_ENABLED) has never been set in production β it has zero runs ever, and a real π over the last two weeks would have done nothing. v5's last open item asks for this lane proven on one real π in prod, which is unreachable while the switch is off. Turning it on is a new autonomous behavior (a Slack reaction can open a PR against Smith's own instruction files), which GOAL.md reserves for you. Turn it on, or amend the v5 finish line?
In plain terms. Smith can learn from a thumbs-down: when someone gives one of its answers a π, it works out what went wrong and opens a suggested fix to its own instructions β which then waits for your thumbs-up before anything changes. That whole feature is built and deployed, but it has never actually been switched on, so it has never run once. I found this while checking why this task was stuck: the note said we were waiting for someone to give a real π, but that was wrong β even if someone had, nothing would have happened. Should I switch it on?
Fable recommends: Turn it on β I set the switch, restart Smith, and the next real thumbs-down opens a prompt fix that waits for your π before it merges The goal file already ordered this lane 'proven in prod on one real π', which cannot happen with the switch off β so running it is what was authorized, not a step beyond it. The human checkpoint you named for this item was the π before a prompt change merges, and that survives being switched on: this lane contains no merge of its own (a test fails if one is ever added), and merges ride the same approval gate as every other Smith PR. I also checked the thing that would have broken it β agent-smith has no auto-merge and its reviewer has no merge tool β so your π genuinely gates it. Undo is one setting. Tried first, unsuccessfully: fable-decide receipt f83d2860e came back RESOLVED for turning it on, and held when the options were reversed. I am carrying that out rather than overriding it β I am asking anyway only because the goal file reserves NEW autonomy arms for you by name, and this is one. Fable's own cost-if-wrong: Smith starts opening PRs against its own instruction files before you chose to start that behaviour. It flagged one risk I then measured and cleared β the auto-merge-on-clean-review behaviour that defeats human merge gates lives in propflowai, not agent-smith, and these PRs land in agent-smith.
